How to Prepare the Perfect French Press (Plunger) at Home
• use high quality fresh beans To get started you will need a Coffee Plunger, freshly ground coffee, a spoon, and cups. Step 1. - The Coffee GrindThis is important for all types of brewing methods, as the coarseness of the coffee will determine how well your brew will turn out. For this method the grind will be a fairly coarse one, in order to allow for a slower and even extraction which results in a fuller and more nuanced cup. Next preheat the glass container by filling it with hot water; leave for a few minutes and tip back into water kettle to re boil. Step 2. - Add the Coffee to the PotDry out the pot. You will need 55gm of ground coffee per 1lt of water, feel free to adjust to suit your own personal taste. Step 3. - Add the WaterBring the water to the boil and let it cool for approx 1 min. Pour the water into the pot over the coffee, making sure all the coffee is covered and saturated evenly. Make sure you do not fill the pot all the way to the top because fresh coffee will expand causing it to overflow. Step 4. - Start TimingAfter 1 min stir the grounds in the pot, this will make sure of an even extraction of all the coffee. Wait a further 1 min and place the top on. Press down slowly to force all the grounds to the bottom, you may need to release and press down again to do this. Step 5. - Pour the CoffeePour as soon as possible and enjoy! |
